Hi leaders,
Welcome back to the leadership challenge. You explore your mindset, confidence, and career direction. Hop in if you haven’t done so yet.
For nine weeks, you receive a small task to work on.
You get a new task every Sunday until the 31st of March. (☛head to the previous tasks)
Today’s task is about change because leadership = change.
Change is inevitable. Some changes are welcomed, others not. What do you wish to change? This is what you do this week:
Many people wonder how to lead a change or change a toxic person. The truth is, not everything is in your hands.
You can push hard, and the rock won’t move. You can say something 100x and still nothing changes.
Why is that?
It is simple. You cannot change some things, and you cannot change people. Instead of trying to change them, accept them. The task might help you with that:
Write down everything you want to change. EVERYTHING. Think about both personal and professional lives.
Then, next to each item, mark yes/no if you influence it and can change it.
Highlight what is bugging you but is out of your hands. (Yes, you can’t change how some people behave)
Then, see what’s left and choose 1-2 things you want to change. (Maybe you want to build good habits)
Focus on smaller things because they are likely to happen. Too big changes can end up in vain.
How true is this: “There is nothing permanent except change.” - Heraclitus
The earlier you accept that, the better you will be at changing yourself and absorbing the changes that come your way.
